A simple yet delightful recipe for pecan pralines that combines caramelized sugar with crunchy pecans for a sweet treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in a saucepan: brown sugar, heavy cream, butter, and a pinch of salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the mixture reaches a boil.
  2. Allow the mixture to boil for 5-6 minutes without stirring until a soft ball stage is reached (234°F or 112°C).
  3. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and the pecans.
  4. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto parchment paper, forming little mounds and let cool for approximately 30 minutes.

Notes

For a variation, add cinnamon or nutmeg, or fold in chocolate chips or dried fruit.
